The History behind “Whims and Views”

I’ve been too busy lately with the preparation for Kharl’s birthday, work and some other stuff that I haven’t had time to update my blogs much. I have so many topics that I want to post but haven’t gotten to working on it. Hopefully, after Kharl’s birthday on wednesday, I’ll be able to go back on regularly updating my blogs.

One big thing that I missed celebrating is the birth of this blog.  I started Whims and Views last year November 2, when I started my Maternity leave. I was not used to being stuck at home and got bored, and that is when I thought of creating a blog. Before, this blog was housed at Blogger.com. After a few months, I met some mommy bloggers and was introduced to PMC. Most of the mommies there were wordpress users and so, on February 2011, I bought my very first domain and had it hosted under Mommy Rubz hosting. I also started earning from this blog, thus encouraging me to blog more. I enjoy blogging and at the same time, I get to earn extra money.

The rest as they say, is history. After a year, I now have 3 blogs all with PR’s. Despite my hectic schedule at the office and my mommy tasks, I still enjoy updating my blogs. Hopefully, at some point in time, I get to really concentrate on them. :)

If you’re much into SEO and the likes, then you might be interested in this new article directory submitter. Actually, PHP Dir Submit is formerly known as the Submitter Script. It is a web-based tool that lets you submit websites to different directories and social bookmarking sites.

Since I’m just less than a year in blogging, I’m not yet an expert nor even a go-to person when talking about SEO, building links or submitting websites. I haven’t grasped the knowledge yet of this SEO thing. But learning through reading and with the help of sites like phpdirsubmit, bloggers like me learn more in using SEO tools. In other words, it makes life easier for some of us.

A slider plugin for wordpress

I want to give this blog a slight makeover but I don’t know how to achieve the look that I want. I actually saw a blog with this style and since then, I’d like to have that on my own blog. The look that I want is actually putting a slider sort of widget on the homepage where it will show featured posts. But being the not so techie blogger, I don’t have any idea how to apply that stye.

And then I thought since my blogs are all on wordpress, there might be an existing wordpress slider plugin somewhere that I can use to achieve that look. So for weeks now, I’ve been on the hunt for a plugin that could give me what I want. And then, I found it. Saw it from one of the blogs I visited and asked the author if she’s using a plugin for the slider in her blog. She gave me the link and of course, I visited it.\

The plugin’s name is called SlideDeck. It has a free version which is I think will give a basic slider plugin and then of course, there’s the paid version that has more features. I downloaded the plugin and I’ll try to use it and see if it works as I’m imagining it as it would be. Hopefully, I could do that this week. :)

Fiverr.com is sort of an online micro jobsite where one can buy or sell gigs for $5.00. The gigs can be as simple as posting a link or liking a page to complicated jobs such as creating a video for advertisement or creating a website for a certain product. Simply put, the concept of Fiverr lies on a simple question, “What would you do for $5″?

Sellers create gigs that they’re willing to do for $5 and buyers pay those sellers for that task. Some gigs are legit but some are just scam. And what’s hard here is that if you’re a seller, you’re competing with other sellers offering the same task for the same price.

When I first registered here, I thought I wouldn’t make money. I usually browse through the gigs and there’s a lot out there offering the same tasks that I can offer. But determined as I am, I still created gigs and waited patiently for offers to arrive.

I’m with Fiverr since May 11 of this year. So it’s been 3 months and some days already that I’ve been registered. And guess what, on that three months, I’ve already earned a good amount already. And so far, I already have regular buyers for my gigs.

By the way, you only get $4 out of the $5 since the site gets the $1 for their share. Then after paypal fees, you get $3.92. So if you’re looking for a site to get rich, this is not what you’re looking for. But if you’re interested to earn at least little by little, then you’re on the right place. :)

Here’s my latest payment from Fiverr. This is for 3 gigs.

Visit my Gigs and see the tasks I offer for $5. :)

I wanted to login to my flashy account to do my usual clicks for the day. However, when I tried logging in, it says my country has been blacklisted. Oh my! I hope everything turns out ok. This is a very good PTC site and a legit one. I’ve already been paid several times now and I’ve already got my investment back plus got some earnings too.
