Yummy Turks Shawarma

There came a time when shawarma became very popular here in the Philippines, and in Manila to be exact. It’s like a trend that became very popular. But at that time, I was not influenced by the sudden popularity of this food to even try it. At some point, I even thought it looks revolting. The shawarma craze eventually stopped without me trying it even once. I had my first taste of it in one of the food stalls in Robinsons Pioneer. It was ok. Not great but just ok.

And then my husband introduced me to Turks shawarma (they have a brance in SM San Lazaro). At first, I didn’t appreciate the taste of it. But on my third or fourth time (we always buy since hubby really likes it), I began to like the taste. There’s something in the sauce they’re putting on it that makes me wanna have a go for another order. I usually go for their all-meat since I’m not a big fan of onions and those other  veggies they’re putting on it.

I’m not advertising this certain food. I just happen to really like their product so I’m suggesting it to others to try it. :)

Coffee Shops I’ve Visited and Liked

When I started working after college, I was introduced to Starbucks coffee. That was the time I got hooked with fraps, espressos and the likes. Since then, I’ve been into different coffee shops and trying their beverages. Here are some of the shops I’ve tried and liked.

1. Starbucks
This, of course, is my all-time favorite coffee shop. I like almost all of their drinks though I have my personal favorites. For their blended drinks, my faves are Caramel Frappucino and Java Chip Frappucino (both coffee and cream based) and their usual Christmas beverage, Toffee Nut Latte Frappucino. For espresso’s, I always go for their Caramel Macchiato since I like it’s sweet, buttery taste. I also like the ambience in their shops but since Starbucks is usually crowded, I don’t go here if i’m planning to pass time. So my drinks are always “To Go”.

2. Baang Coffee
I miss this place in Tomas Morato. My officemates brought me here and I so love the place. Very cozy! And I love their espresso with chocolate marshmallows (forgot the exact name of this drink) . It’s been awhile since the last time I visited Baang.

3. Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf
What I like here is the very cozy ambience of the place making them my choice when I want to have coffee and chill out for awhile. For their coffee, i like their Mocha Latte for Hot and White Chocolate Dream for Ice blended.

4. Krispy Kreme
This is not a coffee shop but I love chilling out at this place. Before, when I got a lot of time in my hands (I just broke up with my bf then), I usually go here to pass time, reading a book or playing with my iPod. What I usually order here is their original Kaffe Kreme espresso and the original glazed doughnut. Perfect match!!

5. Chaikofi Brewing Lounge
They have a branch before at the Robinson’s Pioneer Forum, which is just beside our office. We sometimes go here to chill out after office hours. They have this small function room with a videoke. I can’t remember the names of their coffee blends or frap but I have tried them already. Nothing amazing but not bad either.

6. Seattle’s Best
I’ve been in this coffee shop only twice. Tried their Javachip Javakula which is a mocha blended with ice and chocolate chips and whipped cream. I also like their signature coffee Espresso con Pana.

Last week, I had to eat mostly fried and canned foods for lunch since I wasn’t able to move freely here in the house due to my “manas”. But starting yesterday, lunch and even dinner is really heaven. Since we now have ate Elsa as our all-around helper, someone’s cooking real food for us. Yesterday was sinigang, today we had tinola. I’m gonna make her cook those foods i missed eating. Yey!!! Finally!!
