One of my all-time favorite movie is The Sound of Music (The Family Von Trapp). It was a movie that our mom used to always watch, and because of the countless times we’ve seen it, we grew to love it as well.

The Sound of Music was a 1965 movie by director Robert Wise. It is about a young woman named Maria who wishes to become a nun but is failing miserably. When a navy captain Georg Von Trapp asked the convent for a governess who could look after his seven children, Maria was sent for the job. Georg was always away from home and the children were always left only with their governess. The seven children were quite a handful and always resented those hired by their father to look after them. When Maria arrived, she was given the same treatment by the children. But not long after, each of the seven became attached to Maria because of her kindness and understanding. And soon, even the father was drawn towards Maria. They fell in love and was married. But after the happy events came their biggest problem. Austria at that time was about to be under the control of the Germany and Georg was being demanded to assume a position in the German Navy and fight against his own country. Being a diplomat, Georg refused to serve the Germans and so, the captain, Maria and the children left Austria. The movie ended on the family heading to the mountains of Switzerland on foot.

Aside from the very good singing in this musical, I really love the story and the cast. After so many years, I did not expect to see a picture of the whole cast still together. Wow!

And of course, who would forget the famous line from their song. *Singing* The hills are alive with the sound of music…. (Admit it, you sang that line. Haha!! ) Well, here’s the whole song. Enjoy!!

The Sound of Music lyrics
The hills are alive with the sound of music
With songs they have sung for a thousand years
The hills fill my heart with the sound of music
My heart wants to sing every song it hears

My heart wants to beat like the wings of the birds
that rise from the lake to the trees
My heart wants to sigh like a chime that flies
from a church on a breeze
To laugh like a brook when it trips and falls over
stones on its way
To sing through the night like a lark who is learning to pray

I go to the hills when my heart is lonely
I know I will hear what I’ve heard before
My heart will be blessed with the sound of music
And I’ll sing once more

Sex and the City 2: Favorite Scenes

I have always been a fan of the series Sex and the City. I really admire the friendship of the four ladies in SATC. Too bad I wasn’t able to watch the two movies in the big screen. But thankfully, I was able to watch Sex and the City 2 on Star movies just a couple of weeks ago.

After watching SATC2, obviously, I’m in awe again. It’s such a treat watching how the life of the four girls, after all these years, have led to and how their friendship is still very much intact. I have several favorite scenes in the movie that I even searched in YouTube and downloaded it in my phone.

1. My very favorite scene is the one where the girls were in a bar and they sang I am Woman in the karaoke in front. I like the song, I like the message, and I like the way they sang it. It uplifts woman spirit.

2. The scene when Carrie and Adan saw each other again in an Abu Dhabi market. I liked Adan before and when they broke up in the series, I felt sorry for him.
3. Towards the end of the movie, Big presented Carrie with a black diamond ring for Carrie to remember that she’s already married. Big also had Carrie recite a vow he made. The ring was exquisite and I just wish my husband will give me one. If a ring is too expensive, I could settle for a Black diamond earrings or a pendant with a black diamond. Haha!!

Hubby and I watched the Rise of the Planet of the Apes last night. The trailer got us interested so we watched it on the first day.

The story revolves on the world’s present day scenario. A man who was working with genetic engineering, was trying to developed a cure for Alzheimer’s. His experiments were being tested on apes as they are said to be the nearest copy of a man. His experiment however resulted to giving apes a high level of intelligence. From there, problems started arising. (I don’t wanna spoil it on those who haven’t watched the film yet, so I’m gonna stop telling the plot here).

This Sci-fi movie gave a very thrilling action, but somehow, I was expecting more than what it gave. It’s doesn’t have any bloody scenes which I was actually expecting. Not that I’m a fan of gruesome scenes. But because the movie centers its story on apes and from its own title, I was expecting the apes to be removing the humans literally from the earth. But the movie did not get to that part. But it was ok though. It showed signs of a sequel, so I’ll just be waiting for that next run.

For the technical aspects of the film, I love its graphics and I love how the apes looked so real (though some are I think real apes). And James Franco, who also played Harry osborn in Spider-man played his role well. All in all, I’m giving this movie a score of A.
