This post is a little late, but what the heck. I got tied up with office work and to do’s around the house (since we still don’t have a helper) that I was not able to face this blog for several days now.

Anyway, a day before the 2012 Grammy Awards and three days before Valentines day, a news shocked all of us. Whitney Houston died in her room in Beverly Hilton Hotel, Beverly Hills, California. She was found in the bathtub submerged in water. The paramedics tried to revive her but it was too late. She was pronounced dead 4:00 PM of February 11, 2012.

I grew up listening to Whitney Houston’s songs playing in the radio and consistently topping the charts, even for being a classic song. Some of my all-time favorites are “All At Once”, “Saving All My Love For You”, “Greatest Love of All”, “Didn’t We Almost Have it All” and “One Moment in Time”.

Ramgen-Janelle Video: Who’s To Blame?

I’m sure by now, you have heard the Ramgen-Janelle scandal that’s all over the news these past few weeks. Apparently, someone uploaded the video in YouTube and it spread like wild fire on all social networks. The uploader is still unknown, but a lot of people believes that the video came from Ramgen’s siblings.

For anyone reading this who’s not familiar with these two people, let me give you a brief background. Ramgen was an actor and son of Ramon Revilla, Sr. His girlfriend, Janelle Manahan, is also an actress from ABS-CBN’s Star Circle National Teen Quest. On October 29 of last year, Ramgen was murdered in their home in Paranague City. Janelle was with him that night and was also shot in the face. Prime suspect is Ramgen’s younger sister Ramona and younger brother RJ.

I’ve already heard in the news, before the scandal was released to public, something about Ramgen’s personal gadgets like laptop and phone still being in the custody of Ramgen’s family, when it was supposed to be surrendered for investigation (I’m not sure of the whole story though). If this is true, then I could say there is a possibility that someone from their family could have been the uploaded.

Well, whoever that person or persons are, they’re heartless. I can’t believe how insensitive they can get. Janelle is still trying to recuperate from everything that happened including losing a loved one. And yet, here she is, fighting for another war. I feel for the girl. Too bad there are just bad people in this world.

Have you heard the latest news about Floyd Mayweather? He was sentenced to serve 90-days in jail for beating up his baby mama, Josie Harris back in 2010. Josie Harris is the mother of Mayweather’s 3 children.

The court ordered Mayweather to 6 months in jail but 3 of these were scrapped. He will also complete 100 hours of community service and will have to pay $2,500 fine.

Counting them months, this means he will be in jail until April, which means, it’s goodbye AGAIN to the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight. Too bad! Everyone’s been waiting for ages for that fight.

Under the circumstances, Mayweather will be released by March. We hope their bout will be scheduled soon and will push through next year.

Daylight savings 2011 is about to end

In the United States, Daylight savings time or DST is about to end on November 6, 2011. This means that time will fall back 1 hour from the DST time. So if for example the time is 2AM DST, on November 6, it will fall back to 1AM standard time.

For most of us here in the Philippines, this doesn’t have any effect on us. However, for companies who deals with clients in the US, this must be taken into account. Like for our team, we need to know the DST time versus the standard time to make sure that scheduled meetings and deliverables are being met.

Some might still be confused why there is such a time as DST. Well, back on the days. Well, it is said the Ben Franklin first introduced the concept of daylight savings when he realized that for certain months in a year, daylight comes much earlier. He thought that resources could be saved if people will start the day earlier and also finish the day early. So whenever spring comes and DST starts, time is moved forward by one hour which means if it’s 2AM standard time, it will change to 3AM DST.

Different countries have their own concept of time. Even states in the US differs because some don’t follow DST.

Again, don’t forget to change your US time to move back to the standard time and move 1 hour back.

This visual graphic shows the percentage of freshmen dropouts in school and the different reasons causing these dropouts. I like this graphic because it not only shows the cause of these dropouts but it also show us what stems from it and how it affects everyone else.
