I’ve always loved jewelries even when I was a kid. I would even buy fake or fashion jewelries since that is the only thing I can afford from my allowance. When I got in college, the fake jewelries turned to stainless or sterling jewelries since I have bigger allowance already. Then of course, when I started working and earning my own money, I could afford buying real authentic jewelries.
I still buy stainless steel jewelry though because of it’s advantages over silver or gold. For one, it is cheaper in price. It also requires less polishing so you don’t have to worry about cleaning your jewelry on a regular basis. Another good thing about steel jewelry is it is hypoallergenic. People who have allergies or very sensitive skin can use this kind of jewelry. Steel jewelry is also more capable to handle everyday use.
Now some might confuse stainless steel versus sterling silver. I myself once thought these are just the same. Well, apparently, it is not. Stainless silver is a steel alloy made up of low percentage of chromium. Sterling silver on the other hand, is alloyed with other metals to make it stronger. sterling is softer than stainless steel so it’s more prone to dents or scratches. Stainless steel is also much more similar to white gold than sterling.
Nowadays, there’s a lot of stainless steel jewelry in the market and it it famous for its cheap price. From steel rings, steel pendants, steel bracelets, it is well loved by those who don’t want to spend too much on jewelry and yet wants to own a good looking and sturdy piece of jewelry.
